Are you moving to the right rhythm?

"Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation." Psalm 149:3-4

What is the rhythm of the season you find yourself in?  The rhythm of your day?

God has brought me to a place of seeking a much slower, simpler life; for that, I am indescribably grateful!  By nature I am controlling, I am picky, I am judgemental, I want things the way I want them, I want things “perfect”.  I had my eyes opened to what that really is; pride.

In a rather humorous moment, Erik reminded me that “only heaven is perfect”.

Just this week I read a quote from Sally Clarkson that went along these lines, but not word for word; we should not pick on our kids, and that if God followed her around pointing out all her flaws, she would not want to be a Christian.

This was a challenging reminder to me, about my attitude to others, but also my attitude towards myself.  I am often hardest on myself, not just those around me.

I am learning to embrace this new rhythm in my day and to take life slowly, day by day. To enjoy my relationship with God; this life He has given us is a feast for the senses.  We are surrounded by beauty and detail that can, and should, make us stop, and take Him in.

Slow down and take Him in

I will always strive for ideals; my ideal is to learn to dance, with my two left feet, to the slow, loving, joyful rhythm that comes with a life spent with your eyes fixed on Jesus.

“Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.” Ecclesiastes 4:6

What steps do you need to take, to start a new day, to slow down, to recreate a new rhythm, with Him?
Take some time to reflect on what you need to change
